Hello there, Eirwen at your service.

To new friends who somehow stumbled upon this, welcome. To old friends...well, why are you still reading the intro post? Off you go now, there are more interesting stuff to read here than this!

I might as well explain myself here. This journal is dedicated to my various fan interests, a.k.a mostly JE, and anything Japan-related that I find interesting enough to blog about. My favorites within JE are Toma, Arashi, Musical Academy, and to a lesser extent, V6 and Kanjani8. I also harbor a slight preference for the older groups, but that's not saying I detest everyone who debuted after Tackey & Tsubasa beside Kanjani8. So, fans of any JE group, welcome and make yourself at home if you are interested in my nonsensical ramblings, but know that we might have to agree to disagree at times, especially if your number 1 is News, and that I mean not to offend.

My Friending Policy:

1. PLEASE comment before adding. I would love to get to know you, and random adds without commenting make me very confused.
2. If I upload graphics, scans, or episodes of old shows, the posts will be public unless I decide otherwise in the future. So no need to friend me if you're only here for those.
3. I will add you back at my discretion. In other words, don't expect to hear anything back from me if you add me without commenting.

As you know unless you've been living under a rock, there's a magnitude 8.9 earthquake off the northeast coast of Japan. If you're reading this, please take a few minutes and pray for the safety of everyone in Japan. May everything be okay in the end...To those who tragically lost their lives: May God grant you peace. To those alive, injured, suffering, worried about their dear ones, trying to hold on through this dark time: May God be with you, you are in our hearts and prayers. In front of these disasters, we are all only humans, and nationality, race, religion, they all cease to matter. 日本、頑張れ!応援してるから。
If you are in the US, you can donate $10 (added to your phone bill!) to the Red Cross by texting REDCROSS to 90999.
As JE fans, I'm sure you're worried about the safJety of your idol on top of everything as well. I know I 've been searching the webs for information on it all instead of studying for a final in less than an hour all morning...

So, to give everyone a peace of mind, here's the information about JE artists that I could find: (credit: a lot of my information came from this helpful blog. Please thank her/him for organizing all these information!)

My Hanamizuki DVD arrived this morning!

I can't believed it got here so fast, things usually take much longer to reach the States. I only ordered the Premium edition, since I'm a poor student and have no money to shell out and buy two versions to boost sales figures and collect the set.

Anyway, I'm sure none of you want to hear me ramble, so on to the pictures:

Isn't it beautiful?

And the back:

It's shrink wrapped, so I agonized for quite a bit over whether to open it or not, but in the end, I gave in and opened it, but somehow managed to preserve the shrink wrap in a way that I could still put it back on afterwards--which is helpful, because it turned out the outer covering that you see in the pictures above actually is a paper covering over the box inside, so it'll be a pain to try to preserve the paper cover otherwise.

Follow the cut for more pictures!Collapse )

Hello, everyone! You might know me from a certain disbanded comm, and if so, you probably know of me as that crazily old-show-loving chick who was connected to that 8時だJ (8 ji da J, or literally "It's 8 o'clock! J") project. In light of the indefinite hiatus (for obvious reasons), I thought I would start a journal series on this show--notes, comments, JE trivia tidbits, fangirling , pimping juniors who long since left the jimusho... The title of the series is "JE History Through 8時だJ," but never fear, it's not going to be the JE version of your high school history textbook! So, in this bleak hour without your loyal 8時だJ by your side, may this provide you your 8時だJ fix for the day/week/month!

Well, that's my intention anyway.

So, without further ado, let's move on to the main feature of tonight's program: 8時だJ!

Continue to the main entry...Collapse )

Finally, the guide takes us to Tokyo, the last installment until I have the chance to go to Fukuoka, which won't be quite a while yet (a few years, more like.)

With no further ado, I present you:

  • 営業時間 (Hours) : 10:00am~7:00pm
  • 〒150-0001
    渋谷区神宮前1-14-21 イルサリチェビル1F (Il Salice Building, 1F, 1-14-21 Jingu-mae, Shibuya Ward, Tokyo)
This is by far the most popular one, I would say, especially for us international fans. Located (again off a small side street) in the world-famous Harajuku (原宿) district in Tokyo and a neighbor to the numerous idol merchandise stores along Takeshita-dori (竹下通り), it's extremely conveniently situated in terms of trip planning and everything.

However, this also means that a lot of other people will have the same ideas as you and flock to the store in droves, especially on weekends, holidays, near any concerts and events, and not to mention when new sets of shop photos come out. Of course, the same goes for every location, but the Harajuku one, especially, often requires you to get there first thing in the morning and get number tickets with the designated time for your entry to the store from the staff. When I was there in September, it was a normal weekday, and I made sure to avoid the Arashi concerts in the beginning of the month, and I got a bit lucky too, so I didn't have to get a ticket and wait for my time slot, but don't assume that will be the case. If you know that you will be going on a day that might be crowded or if you're running on a tight itinerary and wants to be sure that you can get the shop photos taken care of on a specific day, I suggest getting there at around 8, or slightly earlier if it's on a day like during the new year holidays or perhaps the golden week in May. I've heard tales of people getting there at 7 or 8 and getting the number ticket for around 4 in the afternoon around New Years. So the moral of the story is: avoid weekends, holidays, and con/events if possible, and get there early and walk around Takeshita-dori while you wait instead of making it the last thing on your list for the day.

(Map and information courtesy of Johnnys-net.jp)

Now, I would strongly suggest you take the Metro Chiyoda Line (千代田線) or the Fukutoshin Line (副都心線) to Meiji-Jingumae Station (明治神宮前), since if you do so and take exit 3 (which is on the Chiyoda side of the station), the side street where the J-Shop is located will be pretty much right in front of you. On the other hand, Harajuku Station (原宿駅) on the JR Yamanote Line (山手線) is still not that far away, but it will be harder to navigate for people not already familiar with the lay of the land.

So, if you're taking the Metro, then exit through exit 3, which will be on the Chiyoda Line side of the station. You will exit out to a small park area surrounded by buildings and stores. There should be a Takoyaki store (pictured above) on the left when you enter the small street where the J-SHOP is located.

On the other hand, if it's more convenient for you to come by ways of JR Harajuku Station, take the Omotesando (表参道) exit and walk towards the direction Shibuya/Yoyogi/main entrance of Meiji Shrine, to the opposite direction of the people heading towards Takeshita-dori. There should be a pedestrian footbridge right down the street close to the nearest crosswalk, cross the street there towards the direction of a small park area and look for the Takoyaki store pictured above.

If it's a busy day, the line for entering the store should be around the small park area in front of the Metro exit and the pedestrian footbridge, so be on the look-out for girls waiting in line and staff passing out number tickets. If you don't see any lines or staff around passing out number tickets, head down the street towards the store. It's in a building called "Il Salice," and the "Johnny's" sign should be pretty hard to miss. Scroll up for the first picture if you need a picture reference. I didn't get the chance to take a picture of the actual store front though.

The store will consist of the ground floor and the basement floor; both carry exactly the same things, so decide which floor to go to based on the length of the line at the register and the size of the crowd on each floor, but if it's an extremely busy day it won't make much of a difference.

Follow the fake cut to advises on how to proceed inside the store:

( Buying Photos/Merchandises )

And after you're done and/or while you wait, don't forget to check out the numerous stores carrying paparazzi photos and merchandises, and not to mention the AU store in the area for CM fliers if you're an Arashi fan!

At last, the second installment to my J-Shop Guides! Sorry for not updating them before now. But anyway, onwards to the guide!

ジャニーズ大阪 (Johnny's Osaka)

  • 営業時間  (hours) :
    10:30am~6:30pm (月~金 / Mon.~Fri.)
    10:00am~7:00pm (土・日・祝 / Weekends and National Holidays)
  • 〒542-0086
    大阪市中央区西心斎橋1-12-8 大美建築ビル1F (Omi Architecture Building, 1 Floor, 1-12-8 Nishi-Shinsaibashi, Chuo Ward, Osaka)

The Osaka J-shop is centrally located in  Shisaibashi (心斎橋), just a short walk from the main shopping street and north of Amerikamura. It's not that far from the tourist food paradise that is Dotonburi either, so it's really easy to plan a day of shopping and good food around going to the J-Shop if you're there as a tourist and/or for a concert.

The store is on the first floor and more or less opens on to the street this time, so it's much easier to locate once you're in the right street, and when I was there during O-bon Holiday this summer, there were far more people than when I went to the one in Nagoya, but the crowd was still more or less manageable, and I didn't have to spend too much time waiting in line. From all I could gather from other people's stories, it's usually not as busy as the one in Harajuku, but still, if there's JE concert/event in the area, or if it's during national holidays, plan accordingly, especially around times like the New Year holiday. The New Year holiday coming up, for example, coincides with the Osaka portion of Kanjani8's concert tour this year (complete with their portion of the annual countdown in Kyocera Dome), and always expect a crowd for the release of Countdown shop photos.

(Map and info courtesy of Johnnys-net.jp)

Compared to the Nagoya J-Shop, introduced previously in another post of mine, it's much easier to find because despite the JE tendency to place their shops in small offices off little side streets, this one is pretty much right off a subway exit and all you have to do is walk down the small street immediately next to the exit. Not much chance to make the idiotic mistake of going north instead of west at the crosswalk as you get out of the exit in Nagoya like I did.

Anyway, so how do you get there? Ride the subway Midosuji line (御堂筋線) to Shinsaibashi Station (心斎橋駅), or walk over to the Midosuji line side of the platform if you're arriving at the Sinsaibashi Station from another line of the subway system. Once you're there, take exit number 8 heading for Hotel Nikko (ホテル日航).

So far, so good? Now you're on street-level, staring at Hotel Nikko. There should be a small side street off Midosuji (御堂筋), which is the main street you see, to the right of the hotel as you get out of the station. Walk down the street for a few blocks until you spot the "Johnny's" sign, a lot of girls, and the store front like the picture above. Below is the sign you should be looking for. See the "Johnny's" sign at the very bottom? Johnny-san sure likes to be discreet.

And once you see the big, pink "Johnny's" sign, remember that the doorway opening to the street is NOT the entry way, and you have to enter through the inside-door under the covered entry-way area.

And now that you're in the store, follow the fake-cut to instructions about buying shop photos and merchandises!

( Buying Photos/Merchandise )

Well then, have fun in Osaka! It really is my favorite out of all the places I've been in Japan, so I'm sure you'll love it, and bring back tons of shop photos and other interesting things to show for it!

hey there everyone! Just thought I'd try to translate the B-side song from Arashi's upcoming single that was previewed on Aiba's Recomen. It's such a beautiful song! One of my favorites already. They always have nice B-sides, don't they? The original lyrics is taken from a Japanese fan's transcription posted on Chiebukuro on Yahoo.jp.
